Port City Halifax Questions - CMA CGM Marco Polo

In May 2021 the CMA CGM Marco Polo arrived at PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub in the Port of Halifax. This was the largest containerized cargo vessel to call on a Canadian port, and the first call for a vessel of this size along the East Coast of North America. The CMA CGM Marco Polo has carrying capacity of 16,022 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) and is 396 metres in length overall.

The Ultra-Class Container Vessels calling on the Port of Halifax combined with the smaller, specialized cargo vessels means tremendous potential for economic growth and development. Work is moving ahead on the South End Container Terminal extension to ensure Halifax remains a big ship port, one that can efficiently and effectively handle vessels of any size.

Past and Present (2019)

Collaborating and working with strong partners and stakeholders, the Port of Halifax is a significant economic enabler in Nova Scotia, generating $2 billion in economic output each year.
